Phuket, Kata 2015 Day 1

Gotta insert this trip into my blog though I did not complete my previous NZ trip posts. =x Anyway, going to Phuket was a spontaneous decision where we booked 1 week before departure. T, my co-worker from Spain, was coming to Singapore for 2 weeks and she has planned to visit Phuket. LQ and I joined her over the weekend, taking Friday and Monday off! =D

Day 1
13 Nov 2015, Friday

Sunflower Garden at Changi Airport Terminal 2, Level 3
I checked in 2 hours prior to my flight departure and toured around Changi Airport Terminal 2 though I've been there for like 1341761834618 times. Yet, this was the first time I went up to the Sunflower Garden! There is also a movie theatre right next to it, which was full of people snoring though...

Following T's itinerary, we will be staying at Kata area in Phuket. There are two different transportation available - THB 200/pax by minibus where you will share with other tourists or THB 1000 per taxi. Taxi from Phuket International Airport to Kata will take around 1.5 hours and the minibus will take 2 hours. LQ and I took the cheaper option and were told to be the last to alight as everyone else stays at Patong area.

As we were chatting with our minibus driver, I asked him if the Big Buddha is near our hostel at Kata, he said "not near, far, I can take you there, free!" LQ and I looked at each other and decided to give it a go.

Big Buddha Phuket
Address: Yot Sane 1, ตำบล กะรน อำเภอเมืองภูเก็ต ภูเก็ต 83100, Thailand

You can easily spot the Big Buddha from far far away as it is really big. Lol. This reminds me of my trip to Lantau Island in Hong Kong last year 2014.

Our driver was really friendly and nice! He even bought us orange juice and mineral water! He gave LQ his number and offered to take us to the airport on the day that we are departing at only THB 800. Hostel/hotel was charging THB 900 and if you ask other taxi drivers around, some will even charge more than THB 1000!

Leave a comment and provide your email if you want to have his contact too!

Elephant Ride? NO.

We passed by this tourist spot and saw elephants of different sizes. Look at this little angel who's being chained up!!! She has been constantly struggling out of the chain and repeatedly moving back and forth which you can see from the picture below. Urghhhh, so pissed!

Must Sea Hotel Phuket / Mussee Kata Boutique
Address: 100/81 Kata Night Plaza, Kata Rd, Muang, Mueang Phuket District, Phuket 83100

Initially, LQ and I booked a private room at Fin Hostel. When we got to Fin Hostel, the receptionist offered us an upgrade to the hotel next door. We took a look at the room and gladly accepted the offer!

Throughout our stay at this hotel, the only thing to note that there is a nightclub next door and you will be hearing some club music up till late at night. We didn't find that a nuisance as it wasn't really loud.

Check out our cozy room below:

There are 4 "private" pools at the rooftop. The whole rooftop is decorated with surf boards, so colourful and nice!

HUNGRY - we had our lunch before boarding our flight before noon. T is taking another flight and thus she will be arriving later. LQ and I charged out of our hotel to look for a place for dinner.

Can't recall the name of the restaurant but the food was disappointing. It's located right at the end of the food street in Kata.

LQ while waiting for food

Nah, no need for close up of the food as they tasted really average and NOT spicy at all.
T joined us for dinner after she arrived.

T couldn't handle her spicy padthai! Though it's not that spicy to us. Haha!
Walking around in Kata, we spotted Elvis.

First Wefie of the trip for LQ, me and T
Andddd we went to the beach when it's dark, there's nothing much we could see
T jumped into the water happily the moment we got to the beach! She must have been a fish in her previous life!

Drinking at night before bedtime
We booked two tours for our next two days in Phuket via the tour agency on the right of Must Sea Hotel. The lady who speaks better English and another guy named himself Mr. Ben were really helpful in introducing us the islands that we should go. Also, we did some bargaining which gave us a pretty good price for the 2 packages. T was really surprised with Asian's bargaining skill. Hehe.

I will blog about our tour to James Bond Island on my next post! =)

    1. Hi Yeow, I couldn't remember the price of the tour. We tried to slash it down at least 30-40% of the original price I think.

    1. Hi, I do not remember the tour agency name. It is in the same building of my hotel (Mustsea Hotel Kata Boutique) on the right hand side of the ground floor.
