Love in Jeju - Valentine's Week in Korea 2014 Day 2

Day 2: 16 Feb 2014

The reason why we picked Feliz Town Hotel was because it's located close to Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak (aka Sunrise Peak), about 7-10min drive, and we need to get up early to catch the sunrise. Admission fee was KRW 2000 per person. Even though parking fee of KRW 1000-2000 was stated on the official website, there wasn't any gantry when we drove over so the parking was free for us. Parking is free for most of the places in Jeju! *Awesome*

Hello there!

Climbing up the many many many many stairs to the peak of the mountain

Many more steps to go *gasps*
View from the top!

Looking at the many many many steps down...

Jeju-do, so peaceful and beautiful <3

As we didn't take our breakfast, we were very hungry after climbing up and down the peak. There're quite a few stalls selling food and drinks nearby. We got a cup of hot chocolate from Angel-in-us Coffee, as well as an egg bread (I forgot the name) and sweet potato next to it.

Yums!

Drinking hot chocolate in a cold weather was wonderful

Checking out other stalls

Chicken with Sugar and Vinegar - Tasted okay

Spicy Rice Cake - not bad!

We drove back to Feliz Town Hotel to pack our stuff and checked out as our second hotel will be in Seogwipo area. But of course, we will have to go back to Trick Art Museum since it's on the way!

Our ticket to the museum (KRW 8000 per pax, about SGD 9.50)
The museum has many interesting paintings with great 3D effects. It's a great place to explore and have fun with your camera! See the pictures below! I never upload all the pictures so that I won't spoil the surprises for some of you who haven't been to the museum. =)

Whenever I see a tiger....

"Warriors of the night, assemble!!" - I'll think of POTM. My favorite hero in DOTA.

Before we head to our next hotel, we went to Jeju Folk Village to have a look at how Koreans lived in the past before all the tall buildings were built. It's quite an interesting journey, there were so many different houses in the village and they actually look about the same. It's also the venue where Korea famous TV drama Dae Jang Geum (Da Changjin, 大長今) was filmed.

Nice Churros!!

We heard snorts so we went closer and realized that there's a real black pig!!

Real farmer

Black Pigs eat poo =x I still love black pork though. *don't think so much*
They came over to us as they thought that we'll feed them but went away with disappointment.

Hungry again! Lunch time! There's only like one restaurant, Traditional Market Place, around the area we were at in Jeju Folk Village so we went in to try their food. We ordered Bibimbap (KRW 8000) and Korean Traditional Noodle Soup (KRW 5000). To my surprise, the Bibimbap was MAD DELICIOUS!!! It's the BEST of the BEST BIBIMBAP I've ever had!! I'd strongly recommend you to try if you visit Jeju Folk Village. Their bibimbap is TO DIE FOR! On the other hand, the Korean Traditional Noodle Soup was slightly more bland then bibimbap but it's still quite good. Ahhhh, I love Korean food!! <3 <3

It was such an unforgettable meal! I was never a fan of Korean food until this trip. I have been craving so much for this bowl of bibimbap even until now! =( I WILL BE BACK ONE DAY.

Second hotel in Jeju - Yilin Pension in Seogwipo City. Yilin pension is more like an apartment which is bigger than Feliz Town Hotel and more comfortable in my opinion. One negative point was that there's no lift and we were staying on the fourth floor. Going up the stairs was easy, but not with luggage. Thankfully the bathroom was heated!!

Yay the toilet was heated!! No need to shower in cold!

Next destination, Cheonjiyeon Falls (천지연 폭포), which was approximately 15-20min drive away from Yilin Pension. While I was driving, I spotted a pool of colourful flowers by the roadside! Luckily the red light came in time and I had some time to snap a picture.

Pretty flowers on the road side

Hot Chocolate from Dunkin' Donut

Our ticket to Cheonjiyeon Falls, KRW 2000 per Adult (approx. SGD 2.50)
We entered the falls' entrance in the evening and there's actually no one checking our tickets. We could have saved 4000 won! But, we are honest people okay. Haha. The park was so scenic, it's like walking in a gorgeous movie set-up.

This couple was playing scissors-paper-stone to see who can first get to the end of the river

Many restaurants were closed by the end we came out from Cheonjiyeon Falls and thus we went up to the second storey to a restaurant which was still open (I don't know the name) for dinner. We found that the food served was alright, not as good as the 2 meals (Black pork in Jeju Day 1, Bibimbap in Jeju Folk Village) we had previously.

A spread for 2 pax - Koreans have big appetite!

Drinking Korean Rice Wine for the first time
We were looking for Seonimgyo Bridge which was supposed to be just above Cheonjiyeon Waterfalls but we couldn't find it. However, we passed by a nice bridge - Saeyeon Bridge. So we parked our car nearby and walked towards it.

Saeyeon-Gyo(Bridge)

Colourful lights at the bottom of the bridge

A nice area to walk at night (if it's not that cold)
Finally, we drove back to our hotel, Yilin Pension, to have a good night rest. We were disappointed that it's not snowing in Korea and haven't seen any snow yet at this point. Our itinerary for Korea Day 3 is Hallasan and will be flying back to Seoul and spend the rest of our days there.
